#12 & #14 ..well when you put it that way!

So true. I have two teenage girls that I continuously try to teach this concept. Too bad you never truly understand until you're an adult.
Never knew that chick could be so insightful. She plays a hilarious idiot on the office.

The statement from #5 would perhaps be true if an individual voted based upon what politicians of the party they identified with told them to, but people call themselves liberal or conservative based upon their thoughts on current issues. Liberal or conservative is meant is a description of a person's general beliefs regarding what the role of government should be, not a guideline when making decisions. The problem couldn't possibly be that chris rock has no clue what he's talking about, could it?

Also, america does not have a 'gang mentality'; Gangs have a pack mentality, much like humans in general often do seeing as we're social creatures that throughout history we generally traveled in groups.

And as for #14, ok, I'm glad *to you* pride should be something you earn. The dictionary definition disagrees, and I think to most people pride has nothing to do with how one attained w/e they're proud about. For example, I am proud of being 5'11", yet I am indifferent to the process in which I became such. I am also proud of my ability to play the guitar, but in this case I am also proud of the work I've done to get to the point I'm at. People can be proud of something without being proud of how they obtained that thing.

Not too many people are proud because they could figure out how to have a kid or were sitting in some place when a famous person so happened to walk in. Pride is simply being happy enough about something that they want others to know. Even if the amount of pride warranted is low, it's still appropriate to be proud in such situations.

I agree with #12. but not for the people who die skydiving, shot in the head, blown up by a land mine, in a plane crash, hit by a train, in a fire..etc..etc.

I didn't always agree with Carlin's world view, but, he arrived at them through reflection and genuinely pondered his topics. Then he would cuss a blue streak.

#26. Sorry, but Suzuki is a douche. Every doomsday Malthusian enviro-nutjob has been saying the same thing for literally hundreds of years, and they ALL have been WRONG. Every time…yet for some reason suckers still believe them. Strange.

I love browsing the chive, but i really have to remember not to read the comments anymore. Why the hell is this cool site so full of narrow-minded, uneducated conservative dicks? I just don't get it.
