Funny, spoiled kid, not a dick move, good parenting, teaching kid sense of humor, sure he got the present, chill out internet people who don't know what they talking about. That sums it up.

    • kettle

Agreed. People who don't know what they're talking about should chill out… like the people who think they can tell the difference between a spoiled kid and an abused kid. Man… you can totally see how spoiled that brat is!

He sure looks like he's enjoying his lesson in humor. Hey kid, trust mom and dad because they know what's best for you. Here's a gift. Drink milk because it's good for you. Look both ways before crossing the street.

  • Jude

Maybe they should buy those kids some shirts instead.

  • badparents

This was not a lesson… it was a prank. A lesson would be helping the kid earn the money for what he wanted.

Look at all the effort that went into this prank. This was one of the oldest Gameboys in existence… in a pristine 3DS box… cameras rolling… friends watching. The money and effort that went into this stunt is considerably lower than just buying the real 3DS at Wal-Mart. You can't look at that stove and tell me this family doesn't know what great prices can be found at Wal-Mart.

Learning to be happy with what you have is completely different from being set-up for an emotional blow by the people who are supposed to be taking care of you.

Everyone on here who says "that kid is spoiled… haha." How would you know that? It's just as plausible for me to speculate that the "kid has an abusive, alcoholic father with attachment issues." You can say I'm wrong… but what do you know? Frankly, if the kid is a spoiled brat, it's pretty easy to see why. His parents suck. Completely. But it's my experience that good parents rarely have spoiled kids, no matter what their income level. They're good parents because they're smarter than trying ridiculous, embarrassing pranks like this.

Way to go, internet mom and dad, for raising another psycho-bully with pent up emotional baggage. The world really needed another one of those.

and the award for parent of the year goes too……

so he is spoiled because his parents got his hopes up and then sent them crashing down for a laugh, you all say he can still play with it but what kid do you know is out buying gameboy, sega, and super nintendo games still that isn't at least the age of 25??? the chive community is great when adults need uplifting, but you are just dicks when it comes to hurting a kids feelings… hope your girl gives you a surround sound unit and when you open it it is a doctors test results saying she gave you the herp

My parents did that to me when I was little. They got the display box for the whatever new console was coming out. Then they filled the box with my brothers dirty underwear. I hadn't expected to get the console, so to be taken so high, and then so low was horrible. Especially as your family laughs at your disappointment. I spent that Christmas crying.

  • MohawkJon

That system was my life for years!
But douch move with the box

  • Indiana Chiver

ungrateful bastard. he'd better say thank you right quick, or all he'd be getting is the paper it came wrapped in.

    • Cody

yes he should be grateful for outdated technology that is the second oldest version of a console that was officially declared a collectors item by gamestop like a year ago. he should say thanks and screw sheep like the rest of us in indiana…ya'll

I did this to my son a few years ago. I printed up a card saying sorry we ran out of DSI's please accept this picture of one instead. Of course after laughing I gave him his DSI.
