Good guy Christian Bale travels quietly to Aurora to visit victims of CO shooting (11 Photos)

: Yesterday, star of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ film Christian Bale was seen entering the Aurora hospital where many of the wounded were being treated. One of them, Carey Rottman, posted a Facebook photo of himself with Bale at his bedside which is currently lighting up the internet. Bill Voloch, interim president of the Medical Center in Aurora, said Bale spent about 2½ hours at the hospital, where he met with five people still being treated for their injuries. “The patients were really happy to meet Bale,” Voloch said.

If that wasn’t uplifting enough, Bale also decided to keep the media away from his visit as much as possible and kept a low profile as he entered the Aurora hospital.
An assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications, told the Denver Post, “Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.” Voloch went on to add that Bale notified that he wanted to visit the injured, but asked that media not be notified. “He just wanted to meet with victims and police.” Bale, who was in Europe with the rest of the cast to promote the film when news of the killings broke last week, released a statement Friday offering his condolences to the victims and their families. “Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” he said Friday. “I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Hey, he actually did do it. I knew people suggested it, but I wasn't sure if he actually would. It seems like an appropriate thing to do.

Also, people are being fucking ridiculous. I've said this before, but 58 innocent people get injured and 12 innocent people die on a regular basis and nobody can manage to give 2 shits about them. They barely make the god damn news because nobody can quite manage to care. People are perfectly satisfied walking around with their heads in the clouds not even knowing what all those people are going through, because they didn't have it all happen at the same place and time, so they clearly just aren't special enough for anyone to care about them. Now, because a bunch of white, middle class young people all in the same place are involved not only is it a massive ordeal, but it's so big that apparently unless someone is thoroughly traumatized and says or does nothing that does not demonstrate such they are an unspeakably awful human being.

People just want something they can pretend to care deeply about so they can pat themselves on the back for being such an amazing human being and have an excuse to attack anyone who says anything that does not demonstrate how distraught they are over the event. It feels nice, doesn't it? I could go on, but I'm not even sure why I'm wasting my time. Sooner or later everyone will forget all about this and go back to living with their heads up their asses caring about nobody but themselves, completely ignoring the sorts of tribulations others have to go through.

Shit, most people here don't even care about these people. They care about themselves and making themselves feel good. Well here ya go! I gave you plenty of fuel. Now rather than getting offended because someone said christian bale doesn't look happy in some picture, you can act offended that I dared question your ironclad moral codes and deep, unerring care for your fellow human beings! If only I could recognize how generous you all are for taking the time to pretend to care about other people and telling us terrible unappreciative individuals off on behalf of all those poor victims you care so much about! Fuck you. I won't be here to read it, so you'll all just have to settle with fantasizing about meeting a blind idiot like me in real life and telling me off to my face. Then you'd show me, huh?

class act .. somebody get him a shirt .. as far as this being a PR stunt .. I work at a movie theater in CA and attendance is down and I had people pointing out suspicious looking guests all weekend. However, I don't see how his appearance in Colorado is going to spike ticket sales. People are still going to go to the movies. Although I'm sure everyone is changing their security policies. Obama went to Colorado. Anyone riding his ass about it being a PR stunt? Just let people grieve. His visit probably uplifted a lot people. Look at it from that side.

Nice to see a huge, big time celebrity actually give a damn. It's one thing to go somewhere and bring a slew of photographers and media to ensure that his/her "good duty" is shown. It's another to actually do something and be honest about it.

Christian bale is the best. I have so much respect for him now. James Holmes (the shooter) should fucking die very slow and go to hell that motherfucker. I apologize to the chivers and chivettes for the profanity. Sympathy goes out to the families of the victims.

Everybody forgets really quickly about that stage hand that got the ass chewing of a lifetime from Bale a couple of years ago and how he publicly treated his mother that time. He's still a super mega douche in my book and I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a publicity stunt to make up for that shit. He IS the American psyco.

It doesn't matter WHY he is doing it. The point is, is that he paid his respects to the victims who did not survive and also put a smile on the ones recovering. That's all that matters. The victims. I think it's awesome either way and if I was in that hospital and he came in to wish me well, I wouldn't be questioning his motives. I would be hanging out with Christian Bale! So suck it negative nancy's. He's making a positive out of a negative.
