Incredible idea! but I see that having some calibration issues… I'd really hate for it to deploy when I jump a curb or anything joggy like such.

It does not work like that. It works on a gyro system and must have a certain change in degrees to employ.

Okay, not to sound like a poo-poo head, but it's not actually "invisible". It's basically a personal air bag that surrounds your head. And I'm not so sure about the device itself being more comfortable than a traditional helmet. It looks like you're trading in a helmet for a cervical collar. Neat idea, tho.

Concerning the use once then toss is – you are aware that a bike helmet is generally only designed to withstand one crash and should not be reused?

if you wreck with a standard helmet you're supposed to replace it as well. $300 is still less expensive then a trip to the ER and some brain surgery, and rehab.

It's the same with regular helmets. Once you do crash you usually split the helmet rending it useless.

Questions not answered: What is the life expectancy of the unit? Can the batteries be changed? Is there a self test for the sensors and onboard 'puter?
What happens when the damn thing fails to deploy?
I will stick to a $45 Bell and know that it is always there and I can see when it needs to be replaced.

As they should be. The problem where i live in the suburbs, is getting to work on a bike means i need leave to super early and take a shower at work. That could be anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes.

Jack, I agree, the a-holes who ride bikes downtown here are a bunch of dillweeds whose intelligence is as invisible as these helmets. I for one would rather have a helmet on then that thing around my neck, just hoping that it would work when I need it.

can't believe they raised 10 million for this. it's going to cost probably triple the most expensive helmets, even if they provide some sort of replacement program for when it goes off you're s.o.l. for a few weeks until it comes in, and on top of it all what if I ride too "aggressive" and this thing pops off while I'm just riding around? neat idea I guess, doubt it's going anywhere.

I think my favorite part of it is the fact that they were told they couldn’t do it so that’s why they pressed on… reminds me of my daughters and my wife. If you tell them they can’t do something, they’ll prove you wrong. I think one of them may wind up ruling the world one day. Good job ladies!

Come on really ..as said its not invisible and it looks more uncomfortable then a bike helmet and also what is the cost and additional cost if it deploys? can it be repacked or do you have to buy another one. I can believe girls created it but I cannot believe they have raised 10,000,000 dollars for this.

besides, having had an airbag from a car save my ass, airbags are loud and smokey, its basically a shotgun shell that goes off and the gasses inflate the bag super fast.
thats what we need — someone hits a curb on his bike a shot goes off and theres smoke everywhere. it will freak the shit out of everyone on the street but the guy on the bike will be fine except for the beating he gets for looking like a failed suicide bomber

As an idea, it's intriguing. I see the bulky cervical collar look being a v1.0 thing. Later versions will likely be smaller. I could really appreciate the technical merit of the idea if it was reusable and could be repacked and recharged.

But who the fuck knows because the video talked more about some nebulous misogyny ("roosters" and "I can't believe girls did this") than the actual product/idea.

Congrats on your idea, ladies. Guess what though: there are lots of entrepreneurial women in the world. You're not the first and some smarmy video smugly referencing some gender bias slight doesn't do a damn thing to promote your good idea. Hope it takes off but I hope you also ditch the subtle persecution marketing angle.
