you're an idiot. this is a purpose built car for racing and racing only to beat ferrari at their own game, hence the reason for no radio and other equipment… look inside one of todays race cars and you will see the same type of interior, this car is an icon in the racing industry

I know this is a lot of money but if I had the 11 mil I would totally drop that for this car. Not only is the Gt40 the coolest car ever made….. with the coolest backstory …. it had the coolest history with the coolest owner. The only person cooler than McQueen would be Paul Newman. This car is not only dripping with cool ..it bloody gushes it

What makes this car so wanted are these factors. It was the first in a series of 3 cars built for racing and it has a history as having been raced. It is also only 1 of 2 surviving. After that it was used as a camera car by Steve McQueen for the movie Le Mans.Most importantly it takes at least 2 people to want it otherwise one bid and it's over.

I love how they added the MK. IV in GT5. Still waiting for any game ever to add the MK. II, especially since it was the MK. II that had the legendary 1, 2, 3 finish at Le Mans in 1966.

A little more nit picking…
The GT40 was actually designed and built i Great Britain by British companies bought by Ford, for the sole purpose of beating Ferrari in Le Mans because Ford wasn't allowed to by Ferrari. So calling it an american car would be a bit of an overstatement since it was designed and built in Great Britain. Agreed the project was funded by Ford, so it's a british-american car which is very expensive.

I will gladly take all the * thumps down* from the people sitting in their chairs screaming 'MERICA. I'm not from Great Britain, nut just wanted to share the fact and by the way the original Ford GT40 is probably my all time favorite super car!

As an american, i like to think of the GT-40 in the same way as i see the P-51D (the p-51 with the rolls royce engine). When great engineers come together with a goal in mind, they create greatness, no matter the country of origin. Just to expand on the whole ford-ferrari thing, It was actually due to Henry Ford jr trying to buy ferrari, Enzo demanding that he stay in control of Ferrari's racing team, Henry ford jr saying no way, and the sale being cancled. After this, Ford made it a point to destroy Ferrari on their home turf; auto racing. Thus, the great GT-40 was born.

3 times more doesnt even come close. How expensive do you think a lambo is? Also, if you think this is ugly you must not have eyes. Theres only a handful of cars ever to be as good looking as the GT40. Oh, and piece of crap? Tell that to all the ferraris it fucking destroyed on the race track. This car was unbeatable in the mid and late 60s. Not to mention the fact that if you put this on a track with a modern lambo, it would smoke it.
