I don't know if The Chive has mentioned this one particular athlete from the Paralympics already, but Brad Snyder recently did quite well as a swimmer on the US Team. He's part of the same community as Taylor Morris (Navy EOD) and was blinded in Afghanistan last year.
thank you for bringing Brad up to the surface if the Chive has not. I read the results article about him. 9/7 – he won the gold for 400m swimming. Incredible.
All I can think about is the Cave Johnson lemon speech.
You mean to make life take back the lemons? Or that he had scientists and athletes taking part in his testing?
Alex Zanardi is the best.
#30 is Vanessa Low.
Do a Google image search. She's really cute.
And I was about to ask to "Find Her". Thanks.
Yeah she is.. Cheers
Every one of these people are incredible….
Pretty much makes you feel like a complete waste of a perfectly healthy body, doesn't it?
Very cool. Yknow with advances in prosthetic tech pretty soon these guys and girls are going to be outperforming able bodied athletes. It'll still be apart from the regular Olympics of course but the dawn of the super cybermen is upon us. Cool.
hate me if you want but every time I see a paralympian all I can think is; "he's more machine now than man, twisted and evil."
There was an athlete with double prosetics in the Olympics if I'm not mistaken
Well done to all the athletes who took part in these games.<img src="http://s01.flagcounter.com/count/7uR/bg=FFFFFF/txt=FFFFFF/border=FFFFFF/columns=1/maxflags=1/viewers=3/labels=0/" alt="." width="1" border="0" /><img src="http://s11.flagcounter.com/count/Ry4/bg=FFFFFF/txt=FFFFFF/border=FFFFFF/columns=1/maxflags=1/viewers=3/labels=0/" alt="." width="1" border="0" />
These athletes are fabulous!! I think the Paralympics should be presented at the same time as the Olympics, people would talk a little more about it and that's just what these athletes deserve, honestly…
Every one of these athletes are remarkable. Sometimes we forget.. no matter what you are going through there are those that are going through worse. These Men and Women remind us.. only if you give up are you defeated! You are all winners.
Everyone one of these people are an inspiration.
I worked at an archery shop, I taught it. #1 is a hero and an inspiration. God bless all of 'em!
Awesome people are awesome.
#19 Every day is upper body day…
Yeah, and I'm going to guess this guy could probly beat your non-handicapped ass.
I know it's wrong and mean etc., but I laughed at the comment.
That guy is totally ripped and you can tell he is one serious athlete having a great time. That said, I bet he would crack up at that comment, I know I did. If you aint laughing, then you're crying and he don't look like someone who would be crying.
When I look at these pictures I realize that I am a huge sniveling pussy about so many things. Honest to goodness respect and admiration for these extraordinary individuals!
#20 I have to think that I never deserve the right to say I can't do something ever again when I see a picture like this.
I went to one day of paralympics. And to be honest I thought it was going to be a little 'creepy' and I am not going to enjoy it all that much. But seeing all the happy competing sportsmen really got me excited (even about events I usually don't care about in olympics). It was just such a great atmosphere
#20 #22 #27 To all these wonderful people I apologize for my daily sniveling. May I wish you all the good fortune you so richly deserve. Vaya con Dios.
Where the FUARK is Siamond Rahman???
#19 The guy behind looks thrilled to be there…
If this doesn't motivate you then I don't know what to tell you. These people are amazing. If they can do it, you can as well.
#28 is David Weir – the Weir Wolf – my mate's brother. That man should be compulsory listening for all school kids – he's incredibly inspiring and a true athlete. Not to mention a bloody nice fella as well.
#29. Please find the girl on the right that is slightly blurred. My spidey senses are telling me she has some lovely humps worth focusing on.
Yeah she's got the curves but that smile necessitates a FIND HER!
Incredible! <img src="http://rf.revolvermaps.com/h/m/a/0/baff00/128/10/51z5xt3nzwb.png" width="1" height="1" alt="map" style="border: Opx;">
#11 Does the backstroke with no arms. Your argument is invalid.
Out of curiosity what is that in his mouth. Is that how they are lowering him in or getting him out or what??
That's how they kick off, it's a towel. They grip it in their teeth, with the other end held by their coach or someone, then when the buzzer goes they kick off and let go. I imagine it takes a lot of practice to get the timing right!
Ahh that makes a ton of sense thanks for the response
Generally in swimming, all your feet do are keep you horizontal. Most forward motion comes from your arms. Competitive swimming with no arms must be pretty damn hard.
