    • Spelling Police

"Alot" isn't a word. It's "a lot." Stay in school.

The Mirage changed the landscape of what is now Las Vegas. That happened in I believe 1989. You can thank Steve Wynn for changing the city.

Wait! We can't stop here. This is bat country.

  • PiratesFan

#33 I was in second grade when they brought that building down. I woke up early and drove down there with my dad to watch it live; something I'll never forget.

    • Kristin

We need proof or it didn't happen.

      • PiratesFan

#16 for casino's, I prefer dim, downward lighting, for the shadow effects on the dealers faces and tables. a wonderful classic photo.

    • Sheesh

casino's… what? NO APOSTROPHE, it's not possessive:
      "for casinos, I prefer…"
      or "for the casino's lighting, I prefer…"

      • chicago

you must live a lonesome and miserable life and wonder why.
from a fellow chiver to you: please fuck off with your diction and corrections.

  • kyrarottie

I live in North Las Vegas in the winter and have a direct view of the strip. Since I am only a 15 minute drive from the strip, I drive down early every morning for my walk. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Las Vegas, day or night!!!!

    • FJCruise

      Are you 80?

    • YumYum Roll

You… haven't lived here long enough. I have been here since the late 80's and this town is a fucking shithole for locals. North Las Vegas is a pit, I don't care how much they try to dress it up with communities like Aliante. Living there for three years was the worst three years I've spent in this valley. High crime rate ,much more than 15 minutes away from ANYTHING.

      • Miss Ma'am

A someone who was born and raised in Vegas, this place isn't a shit town for locals. If u think this place is such a shithole, then get the fuck out!

    • WTFLady?

      Uh….DRIVE down for a WALK???
Why not just WALK DOWN AND BACK???

  • Tickler

Every two year I make the trip across the continent for a visit with the boys. Nice escape from shit ton of snow and cold. Sun, golf, poker, blakcjack, no liquor laws, and so many beautiful women. What is there no to love?

  • I-NeeD-$$

I was definetly born in the wrong era.

#2 #9 #34 Take a patch of God-forsaken desert. Add a heaping dose of mob money, a little water from Lake Meade, a pinch of nuclear fall out, and a heaping dose of the hopes of Middle-America. Mix vigorously and bake at 100 to 115 degrees for several decades until bright and shiny, and voila…

    Vegas Baby!

    • Deep Dish

I always wonder, who's idea was it to build a town like that out in the middle of the fucking desert, and how crazy did everyone have to think he was at first?

    • YumYum Roll

Well said. I just wish people hadn't decided to start actually settling down here. Employees of casinos I understand. But the rest of us ended up in a horrible living locale.

      • Max

        Can't handle Vegas?

#30 Oh sure, but when I have craps in the pool suddenly it's all "health ordinance" this and "you have the right to remain silent" that.
