The talented idiots at Sky Combat Ace let me fly a stunt plane (7 Photos, 1 Video)

The thrill seekers at Sky Combat Ace recently invited me to the Santa Monica airport to be a part of their Sky Combat Experience. In the SCA, a Vegas-based company, you actually become a fighter pilot, dogfighting in an Extra 330 LC against your opponent while YOU FLY THE F@KING PLANE???

It sounds absurd. Even more so if you consider than I'm deathly afraid of heights. I'm convinced this is why I was invited, for some reason people take great delight in torturing me and I've never said no to being tortured.

I brought our GM, Chris Davidson, it was his birthday and I like beating him at things.

At an altitude of 2,000 feet I was given controls of the aircraft, which was a mistake.

: My co-pilot, Richard “Tex” Coe briefing us on our upcoming “flight lesson.” They really do talk to you like you’re a fighter pilot, it flavors the experience and drives home the general feel of impending doom.

: Before my flight, Chelsea Handler went up. The crew showed me video of Chelsea losing consciousness after pulling 5 G’s out of a deep tumble.

: Here we go…
