Daredevil Felix Baumgartner jumped from 24 miles up in world’s first successful attempt at a supersonic skydive! The 43-year-old man rode a helium balloon to the top of the stratosphere then jumped from a capsule and accelerated to 833.9 mph during his dramatic dive. All he had was his spacesuit as he attained Mach 1.24. It took three hours for the balloon to lift the pressurized capsule to the earth’s ceiling — 128,100 feet, or 24.2 miles above sea level. It wasn’t completely smooth sailing as Felix describes spinning wildly mid-way during his four-minute free-fall, which could have knocked him unconscious. “I had a lot of pressure in my head,” the former military parachutist said at a press conference. “But I didn’t feel like was passing out.”
