I don't know that I would consider all of these great directors or great films #19

    • Adam

Well at least we didn't have to see Cameron for Avatar. Thank you Mac for not trying to deceive us into thinking it was a good movie like the rest of the world.

      • CaptainInsano

It was' popular' not to like that movie..

    • Yup

      Enjoy your Ben Afleck movies.

    • Kodos

Escape from New York was the great movie…

    • spicey

is it bad i only knew 3 of the movies?

      • bird

      • KyleGamgee

    • bob

some of these were downright horrible films.

    • McBeastie666

Carpenter is a great director. Escape from LA is not a good movie…but he is still a great director.

    • The_Truth

      Carpenter is an incredible director.

  • The_Fletch

#2 is from The Lost World (97) not Jurassic Park!

    • Chooch

Is he actually giving direction to a robotic dinosaur?

    • Kator

Was about to write this. There's no baby stego in the first movie.

      • Just sayin

        Sad that you know that…

        • The_Fletch

    • larry

#2 is part 3 if im not mistaking

      • Patrick

        It is part 3….

        • Joe

It's def part two. J Moore gets attacked by it's mom.

        • Shockteck

Speilberg didn't direct part 3 Joe Johnston did.

  • r1rider

#8 Alba was so damn hot in that movie

    • jaylu

and now she's a hot milf

    • KyleGamgee

I wish her costume was closer to the original. (The original character didn't wear panties on stage.)

  • don meok

    #12 like a boss

epic movie. this man definitely had his issues to come up with movies like this. i heard he would spend days just filming one scene until it was exactly like he envisioned it in his brilliant mind.

  • LIJay

#2 Still one of my favorite movies. I remember being amazed at the scene when you first see the dinosaurs. Camera pans up and – boom – brontosaurus' hanging out chillin'. To a 13 year old, that shit was amazing!

    • Nonya

      This Jurassic Park 2

    • I like cups

Remember the McDonalds cups you could get when the movie first came out? Those cups were freaking awesome!

      • Jeff

        I had all of those.

  • Porkins

Where is George Lucas!? "They came at me from behind!"

    • Verbal_Kint

Isn't that a quote from Anna Malle?

      • Porkins

It could be, but Porkins said it in 1977 when he was shot during Star Wars. Anna would only have been 10?

  • tv_paul

#8 If only she had gone with the comic book version of her outfit it would have beat out Titanic's gross.

    • Verbal_Kint

I think that's true of every female comic book character…

      • tv_paul

yeah but in this one she's a stripper with no top ( a vest I think) and chaps with nothing underneath.

    • goatpunch

Not for robert's lack of trying. She just refused

  • crustybubblechunks

#15 Tell Bruce Lee and the Karate Kids that none of us are carrying automatic weapons. Here in this country, it don't add inches to your dick, you get a life sentence.

    • Lyman Chen

Hey, that's one smokin' hot Chinese dude next to Marty!!!! lol! Mac, I need a copy of that file so I can frame it on my wall!

  • ThatGuy

i would say maybe 4 of these directors are "great". maybe.

    • KyleGamgee

I would disagree. And then we would not be internetfriends.

      • Shockteck

Scorsese Coppola Spielberg and Eastwood alone are Great. So what about Hitchcock and Cronenburg? Wes Anderson I don't think has made a bad film yet.

  • ryan

    No Coen Brothers?

  • thom

Ben Affleck as a great director?!?!?!

This post was totally over sold.

    • KyleGamgee

Yes. Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and now Argo. It's said Argo will likely get him a Best Director Oscar nomination.

    • McBeastie666

yeah dude…he's a pretty damn good director.

    • m.c.

yes. average actor, good screenwriter, great director.

      • Shockteck

A Fantastic Director. I thought he was great in the town as an actor.

    • Valkyr

Are you aware that one of his first scripts , which was written with Matt Damon had won an Oscar? (good will hunting)

  • Paul Allen

    • goatpunch

Huh. I see no enthusiasm toward the minnesota vikings in your post. I am disappoint.

    • McBeastie666

You know it didn't say "Every Great Director on the set of Every Great Movie." Chill.

  • Lev

#20 You could warn them, if only you spoke Hovitos!

i always wanted to be indiana jones as a child. just a straight up badass

    • @undefined

i like that they only mention Spielberg and not Lucas

    • Gusto

Too bad the Hovitos don't know you the way I do, Belloq.

  • ZZZeb

Where the fuck is Uwe Boll?!

  • John

#6 The only terrible movie on the list…. that was unwatchable

    • 6655321

Steve Coogan never does anything bad.

    • CaptainInsano

Didn't like Iron Man 2 either but a lot of these are awesome movies

  • doug

our definitions of "great movies" are greatly different :(

  • Reservoir_Dog

#11 What the fark is that hack Peter Jackson doing on this list!

  • lowlander

Pretty sure thats george lucas in #20 on the left also

    • jasgat66

      Ya think????

  • Brian

Have to say this post is a complete "FAIL". Examples listed above…sorry

  • celkali

#20 My screenwriting teacher was the extras coordinator for all the Indy and Star Wars films. He told us all they needed to do to convince people to be extras was a sandwich, a bottle of water, and 25 bucks. He also claims to have been there for the famous swordfight/gun duel.

  • TomTheCameraGuy

It's way more fun to try and name the director and film without using the box at the bottom

  • skspls

    Where is James Cameron?

    • Simon

Hopefully writing a note of apology for his output and cancelling production of Avatar 2. Or at film school learning how to tell stories properly and not rely on SFX.

  • ThaDude4

So Ben AssCrack makes it on here but no Stanley Kubrick? Disappointed in the chive, i am.

  • Jeff

#2 Is he giving direction to an animatronic dinosaur?

    • 6655321

It's called a joke. Some people make them. Not me, I don't care for them.

  • Stephen

Escape from L.A. is a terrible film

    • Schrodinger's Cat

Still a better story than Twilight
