Nerdy McNerderson here: this has nothing to do with polarization. Polarized glasses can stop you from seeing things that people who aren't wearing them can see, but they can't allow you to see things that people without glasses aren't seeing. I'm guessing #1 refers to glasses that display subtitles themselves in a similar manner to the way that google glass displays a variety of things in your field of view, i.e. it's not on the screen, it's on the glass.

wrong, polarized glasses can allow you to see things that people without the polarized lenses cannot see. the lenses reduce the glare on things such as water, grass, street roads.they're actually quite awesome i just got my first pair this year and was looking into a stream where there was fish i asked my gf if she saw them she said no, i let her use the glasses and boom she saw them. point being with polarized lenses you can in fact see things that others without them may not be able to.
