Colbert is a total cynic. He is unwise and blind.

    • heywood jablowme

spoken like a true Bill O'Rielly.

    • Child Please

He's also a giant eagle with armor.
What? I thought we were just saying shit that wasn't true.

    • ATrapAtNoon

Someone doesn't realize that Colbert plays a character on his show…

    • John

You must not understand what exactly Colbert is/stands for.

    • Lebowski

      Colbert understands satire and irony.
Which is very different than cynicism.

      • A BiPolar Guy

i think whoever first defined cynicism so negatively (don't thinks it was Stephen) just did it to make himself look better in contrast.

    • Macro

They forgot the new double asterisk (**) at the end of his titles.

This is for sure an absolute statement that all people should live up to…F*ck hate and love one another

      • DaBox

Yeah. I hate people who choose not to think like me… Oh wait. I hate that all people dont get along… Oh no…

I hate that people believe they can be better people by reading a picture on the chive.

        • a-nom

I'm not sure I understand the reason for your descent towards my comment. Are you saying you agree with hate? Are you making jest that people are sheep (somehow)? If you hate people that think that they can be better from reading things on the chive, you have to believe that you can't be better for reading anything in general. By that logic there is no need for education or learning or listening to music or helping others. For sure my statement may be far fetched, but it doesn't have to be. If you get by through hate, I'm sorry for you, but there is no need to be hate people who look at what other people say to inspire them in their lives.

    • Heller

It is from a great book/series, as well.

The problem is when the creators are vastly out numbered by the people wanting to share.

      • Frank

I would assume he's talking about "creating" a party, and "sharing" an 8 ball.

    • Hugh

Fred, it is hard to work 'fart' into profound statements but you did poetically. The special ed teachers were wrong about you.

    #17 True story

  • Steve

Last point reeks of douchebag socialism. Fuck off with that nonsense.

    • Child Please

Yes, cause anything putting more value in creativity and bettering humanity is "douchebag socialism"

      Facepalming like a mothafucka.

    • Hypno

Well Steve, if you drive on roads that are NOT on your property, have street lights that help you to see, and get mail of any kind, I have bad news for you. You, my friend, are somewhat of a Socialist.

      • Ivan

And what a damn fine job they've done with that, Hypno. Potholes everywhere, street lights put up AFTER violent crime occurs and FedEx kickin' USPS butt. I think you just made a good argument to privatize everything the government has its hands on…

      • Troy

That may be the dumbest thing I have ever read. The capitalist system is what generated the CAPITAL to pay for those items.

I guess since we drink water we are all part fish too, right idiot?

        • Hypno

Those things are built by and operated by the Government with Tax Dollars. You don't know that??? Maybe you ARE part fish.

        • Jake

Capital is generated in socialist economies from privately owned businesses too. Stop listening to Fox News and read a political science book to find out what socialism really is.

          • JESSE

The consolidation of power on either end of the spectrum is dangerous. Neither governments nor multinational corporations have your best interests in mind, they simply want power. The difference is that large companies at least have an obligation to sell a product that people will want because if they do not, the product sold will cease to be an asset to the purchaser and the company will fail. However, certain anti-trust and basic labor laws are necessary for a competitive toe-hold for a smaller company or the well-being of the workforce. That said government officials or other individuals usurping the spoils from other's labor at a disproportionate ratio of work input to benefits received essentially make the government a racket. Government is necessary to a certain degree but logically a government employee, without a stake in the massive risks taken by entrepreneurs under his or her control, in essence becomes what was once referred to as an "overseer." Follow the money. Businesses are not cattle to be slaughtered or for that matter cows to be milked. We should absolutely be able to determine the course of our future because we risk everything. And government… well follow the course of history of nearly any region in the world.

    • Charter896

Totally agree. Also find it completely pathetic of those who mock the idea of God to try and conjure up reasons for why we're here. It's rather humorous in a way.

      • dirtysteve

The hell are you on about ?

    • dirtysteve

Christ, what's with this new wave of US paranoia about 'socialism'?

Socialists don't hide it, they're not this decade's terrorists for the hard of thinking.

    • http://www.justgoogle.me iAm

people need to understand the origin of money in order to understand why sharing is not a hippy concept. The concept of trading came from the simple form of someone sharing a product, and the reciever was so happy about it that he wanted to return the favor. The creative market should be about returning favors and not demanding favors in return.

For the people who can't understand this abstract example; if you only make art in order to earn money, then you aren't doing it for yourself.. make art for yourself, and if you're lucky someone will like it so much they'll want to pay you for your creativity.
