He is still an arrogant cock who looks like a horse. A gifted arrogant horse granted.

    • Martin

      British much?

  • deznuts

    espn top 10!

  • Andreas

This was also the opening match in Sweden's new national area and he also scored 3 goals before this one!

  • Dustin

I don't know why they call these kinds of kicks a bicycle kick. It resembles nothing of riding a bike.

    • Daddy

They reserve that look for your mom.

    • Hero_Status

Why isn't it called American Throwball, there is fuck all kicking

    • ImALoserBaby

actually no one really calls it a "bicycle kick" in the soccer/football community. They usually refer to these kicks as "overhead". Only place where i actually hear "bicycle kick" is on ESPN when i think about it.

and the same thing can be said about American football. Why not hand egg? or gridiron (i personally prefer gridiron it sounds more manlier). NGL doent sound that bad to me.

      • Jhonatas

we call it "bicicleta" (Bicycle kick) in Brazil

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Actually a lot of people call it a bicycle kick and it refers to the wind up of the legs to generate power resembling pedaling a bicycle.

Football started as a minor diversion from "rugby football" with slight rule changes which led to "rugby" being dropped from the name. As such, blame the British for considering rugby a form of "football" to begin with.

        • ImALoserBaby

really? i almost always hear these kicks refereed to as overhead, like Rooney's kick against ManCity, ESPN was the only place where i heard it being called bicycle kick not overhead.

And side note, you can also blame the british for the term "soccer" too lol.

          • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Yes. I've heard a lot of the English commentators (not just those associated with ESPN or before their work with the network) call it a bicycle or scissor kick. The term has been around for decades and it certainly gets a lot of use in other countries. They call it bicicleta in spanish-speaking countries, too.

            • TommyD

What ever happened to calling it a Pele?

            • ...

Scissor is to the side bicycle is overhead

        • Someone who knows

Football was first; rugby came afterwards. It originated, in lore, by William Webb-Ellis, a pupil from the Rugby school in England, picking up the ball and running with it during a game of football.

          • I watch Q.I

            I'm pretty sure that's a myth.

  • MylesofStyles

Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He must be from the south eastern part of Sweden.

    • MPSwe

Southwest Sweden. Malmoe to be more exact. He looks like a typical person from maloe

      • MikeyMate

Does everyone from Malmoe look like a crow-horse?

    • kukla

actually….he is from bosnia and hercegovina…. my man!!!

  • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

World class. Top contender for goal of the year and the fact that he netted all 4 goals for Sweden just shows he's one of the most underrated true strikers.

    • bob

Yes I have to admit it was a truely class goal however joe hart wasnt in front of goal, like he should be which makes the goal somewhat easier, he didn't truely have to beat the keeper

      • FarmBoy

Did you see his 2nd and 3rd goals? One of his chest, struck it hard before it hit the ground, and his insane free kick. He beat Hart in those, I honestly think any of the two I mentioned were better than the bicycle kick.

      • Busternut

Hart had to come out and make a clearance, albeit a fucking useless clearance, because he knew the incompetent England defence couldn't do their job. Who was marking Zlatan? No one. Utterly abysmal defending.

    • Flux

How is Ibrahimovic underrated? He's constantly praised as one of the best, if not the best, strikers around. Of course, his reputation isn't as great as it could be, but then again he is also something of a mercenary.
But basically you can walk up to anyone and ask them to list their top 5 strikers and he's going to be in that list.

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Because he's never in the conversation for one of the best of the game. People questioned his switch to Barcelona as if he was not as good as Eto'o at the time and then subsequently acted as if he was only fit to beat up on lesser teams in Serie A and couldn't compete with the talent of La Liga when he didn't have the impact in one season that his reputation led people to expect. He's constantly being criticized saying he wouldn't be able to handle the premiership. All of this besides the fact that he's one of the most complete strikers to play in the last decade. He sees more negative criticism than praise, and it's not just for his attitude.

    • Jabs78

He's played for 5 of the biggest sides in club football across Europe, His combined transfer fees are close to 200 million euros!! Sounds like quite a few people rate him to be honest!!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/JDS2041 @JDS2041

I concur one of the best! the man is just a beast! However the voting for goal of the year has already started and this cannot be added! it was frikin awesome though!

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

I just meant in regards to my own personal ranking. I'm sure Neymar or Messi will take it though that scorpion kick deserves it.

    • Luigi

When was Zlatan ever underrated ? Everybody in Europe knows he's a beast and on a good day he can decide the fate of a game in any given moment.

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Look, soccernet on ESPN JUST put up an article today about varying impressions about Ibrahimovic. I'm not making this up. Just go back and read anything about him around the time he moved to Barcelona.

    • M.O.T.

Quality finish but Hart fucked up, so not a goal of the year on that basis.

Also, how the fuck is he underrated? He's been at a load of the European giants including Barca.

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Really? Can you not read? I've addressed this more than once.

      • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

Taken from an article on this goal.

"It silenced the section of England fans who minutes earlier had serenaded Ibrahimovic with derogatory songs comparing him to Andy Carroll, the much-maligned English striker who also has a ponytail."

That is the kind of flack he gets from the public who do not support his clubs or Sweden. They consider him a "bully" who picks on lesser competition, but doesn't show up in big games as stressed by the fact that they harp on his failure to win Champions League or do well in World Cups despite leading his clubs to league titles and performing well in qualifiers and thus don't give him the credit he deserves especially with all the attention given to Messi and Ronaldo.

  • Ryan

In the beautiful game, beautiful things like this goal tend to happen. This was just unreal

  • dlux39

    • aas

      it's football

      • Markus

"dlux39" : Top contender for a thumbs down record !

    • Guz

Well fuck off then. He'd been running for a whole game before this, no time outs or anything. And in a sport against another country too!!!

      • serhan92

its better than what you American's do. bombing other countries. we just have competitive sports to play with and we shake hands after its finished

    • ImALoserBaby

you obviously never played fifa 13.

    • Woody

It's ok, don't watch it please.

We actually don't want you Americans to get it.

You'll only ruin it and put an advert break in after a goal, or attach cans of coke to your hat.

Football is ours, you don't get it. and we love that you don't get it.

      • Nick

        its for mexicans

      • Ulises

Dont get it? The world is just mad that a country that gives no attention to the sport in national media is catching up and beating them. Our top athletes go into basketball and handegg. Even hockey. Interest in the sport is barely growing in our 17 year old league….and in the last few years we've managed to make it to the quarters at the world cup (again), beat out England in the group stage, beat Italy in Italy, beat Mexico in Azteca, tie Russia (9th ranked in the world) in Russia without our top guns….among other shit.

And that's with only a small percent of the population giving two shits about the sport. Just wait until our top athletes start choosing Soccer/Football as their sport of choice. We'll pretty much dominate. It's okay to cry.

    • Truth

      As does your mother.

  • JJ Stokes

    such a beast

      • You are a dumbass

        Ignorant prick.

    • konovoloff

greatest women sport in the world*

      • You are pathetic

Oh bravo, did you come up with that breathtaking insult all by yourself, it's like you created a sunset with words.

  • FarmBoy

Watch his 2nd and 3rd goals, better than the one above.

    • ImALoserBaby

his 2nd and 3rd kick, specifically his 2nd kick does require more skill, but it's the fact that nailing an overhead kick in a game is so rare, which is why people make such a big deal about it.

      • yep

        especially from that distance!

        • FarmBoy

Yeah, the freekick doesn't happen from that distance often either, especially not one shot that low.

so glad to see he's retained everything i taught him!

  • Knowitall

He is Bosnian not Swedish. 🙂 One good thing to come out of that country lately 😀

    • Smokey The Pear

He's Swedish, his dad was Bosnian but he grew up in Sweden

      • kukla

what the fuck does it mean where he grew up?? his father is bosnian, his mother bosnan, he was born in bosnian, so how can he be swedish you moron?!

    • http://twitter.com/LosSaysSwag @LosSaysSwag

He plays for the Swedish national team. Despite any technicalities regarding his heritage, the fact that you would even bother trying to make this correction in light of this fact is stupid.

  • ImALoserBaby

what a horrible clearance by joe hart!

  • <Ed_Word`>

    A great goal.
Not to take away from it though but what is up with goalkeepers as of late? These headed clearances just gift players with opportunities and they always take them! Beautiful goal, but terrible defending.
I also think some credit is due to the defender for keeping with it and trying to clear it off the line, but there was no stopping that one! Nice try though 😀

    • lat297

IMHO, it's the lack of trust between the goalie and his defenders. Especially in friendlies where the manager makes 6 changes @ half time, it's ridiculous. If the trust was there Hart would have left the ball for the defender and returned to where he was supposed to be.

  • http://twitter.com/JDS2041 @JDS2041

Its a great goal! he had the awareness to take advantage of Joe Harts bad clearance. However Joe Hart had to leave his position because the Engilsh defense was no where around!

  • PSG

    England was zlatanized .

  • Nick

    soccer is garbage /end

    • Douche stopper

      Nick is a ignorant douche…end!

  • Rob

Can't believe they are calling it the greatest bicycle goals ever on some of the news websites. It's an OK bicycle goal, but certainly not the greatest.

    • Lukas

      prefer that one.
