#3 my phone makes me feel like I should be fired.
Why?
Because I use it to Chive all day, everyday.
DirtBag
#30 please let this be possible in the future.
Chuck Finley
This would usher in a terrible era of Internet viruses
Egon
You know goddamn well it will never be possible.
Ahrash
#2 I want to punch whoever said that . Air Force ROTC and getting a degree with 3.6 GPA .
Logicalfallacy
What we have here is called anecdotal fallacy. Just because you are an exception doesn't make it less true
Ahrash
That comment on Facebook was yours wasn't it
Logicalfallacy
My good sir, you insult me. I wasn't taking any sides. I was merely pointing out your logical fallacy which does you no good, but in fact contributes to the stereotype
Ponderous
The guy also missed "to dumb" it should be "too dumb" Education and intelligence are different things. Some can't afford it some people rack a disaprin and the military gives that to them.
goatpunch
What you are saying might be true, except that one of, if not the most common answer given for joining the military is money for college. Many don't want to have to work 24/7while going to school full time, especially on the reserve/natl guard side. It's true many join active duty military because they feel they aren't ready, or don't want to go, but they might do college after getting out, and if not this is still a minority of military personnel overall http://enlist.military.com/68/top-10-reasons-to-j…
Onoku
^^ This right here. Half of my soldiers have degrees and most of the others are working on it.
http://euroranger.wordpress.com/ Euroranger
The fact that you fail to recognize that the original statement was no less an anecdotal fallacy which you then accept as a truism leads me to the inescapable conclusion that you might be a bag of douche impersonating an actual human being.
Or perhaps not impersonating at all. Either or.
Logicalfallacy
What we have here is called "tu quoque". Never said I failed to recognize that the original statement was anecdotal fallacy and neither have I said I accept it as truism. I just don't care about a random person on fb who can't even see their fault. I found it more important to point it out to someone who has a bigger chance of understanding the fault in his statement.and probably do better in the future.
Garret
I still think we're getting away from the fact that the schmuck that posted this is in all likely hood a jerk. (I'm also not to happy we share the same first name)
Garret
*likelihood, how'd that get away from me?
Wisti
not too happy* though according to #2 you only have to correct 50% of the mistakes to be intelligent…I completely disagree with the person though, nearly a quarter of the engineering department at my school are ex military and they tend to grasp and understand the concepts faster than the rest of us civilians.
http://www.superseedband.com AndySaximus
The bottom line is it was an absolute statement so all you need to disprove it is anecdotal evidence. No anecdotal fallacy there.
26.3% Percent of veterans 25 and older with at least a bachelor's degree in 2011. In comparison, 28.5 percent of the total population had a bachelor's degree or higher.

5 Minutes on google and I'm not even american…..
FuWangaDoo
And the fact that you called him an exception shows you're biased.
Gimletmike
"Just because you are an exception doesn't make it less true". Your words exactly. You have proof of his being an exception I take it? What you have done is make an unsupported generalization. By the way I don't need a lecture in freshman philosophy. I passed it 28 years ago.

For the most part, you cannot become an officer in the United States Military without a college degree.
STFU
Bottom line, those military men and women do what they do so idiotic statements like this can be proclaimed and then freely argued over…by more idiots.

I've bit my dentist's finger before. He had the gas on probably a little to high and I thought it was cotton. He was like "ouch that's my finger" , and "that's alright, I hurt you and you hurt me. Now were even". Then we laugh are asses of for awhile.
