Spoilsport alert: That whole thing just looks like an accident waiting to happen. I can almost see the headlines now: "Students Die In Collapsing Bonfire, followed by KICKIN' barbecue"

biggest bonfire in the world….. stand right next to it with no where to run as it burns…

  • badfish

I normally hate anyone who says this, but… Burn it…Burn it with fire?

  • freddy boy

#4 Every employee of OSHA just had a heart attack. And as far as this being the biggest bonfire ever, check out the word "Persepolis". Now THAT was a big bonfire.

  • Jdog

Starting fire at the top is stupid. If it was started at the bottom would have been a huge flame.

  • Marchetti

    Never forget…

  • Visitohr

    What defines bonfire then?
Here in Holland we have 'bonfires' of 150 ft….

  • Verbal_Kint

Whoever lit that thing obviously wasn't a boy scout.

  • Macro

Biggest "ever"? I highly doubt that.

    • E Slinning

It is. Highest built by humans. No help from cranes. This is a really old tradition in Norway. The only place it is built like this, by young people is in Aalesund, Hessa.
The height trend to be between 20 – 40 metres. Got a bit higher this year though.
Best tradition ever! Hope it continues for many years to come.

  • peter

Guess you haven't been to burning man

    • Ken

I was waiting for a post on this… There must be stats somewhere to compare…

  • Nolan

How did it beat the holocaust?…

  • chvrs r rtrds

    Nice headline fucktard

  • Guested

Typical Scandahoovian – build it yourself, looks great, relatively cheap, but doesn't last. Done like this anywhere else, 96 people would have died when it fell over.
    Good job, Norway.

    #5 "And Rohan will answer!!"

  • DannoTheManno88

Not as big as London. Not as big as Washington DC. Not the biggest bonfire.
