I remember my high school staged a big cancer fundraiser once. We raised $10,000 for a worthy cause and we all thought we were badass.
But two rival high schools in Greenville, SC have taken fundraising to inspiring new heights. For one week every year J.L. Mann High School and Greenville High compete to see who can raise the most money for charity. This year’s recipient of the “Spirit Week” competition was the Cancer Survivor’s Park.
Driven by nothing but moxy and grassroots grit, the students go door to door, asking local businesses and neighbors to help their cause.
This year the two schools got after it, man – the results of which deserve the national spotlight here in the DAR.
At the stroke of midnight on Friday, the two schools closed the books on an epic week, collectively raising $512,470. Unreal.
In the small town of Greenville, with limited social media resources, a bunch of driven students accomplished something amazing. We here at theCHIVE tip our hats to J.L. Mann and Greenville High for helping restore our faith in humanity today. Well done, guys and gals.
