theCHIVERS only take one break from the blog every year to spend Christmas with our friends and family. A few years ago we started spending the second leg of our vacation in Key West. We loved the island vibe, the weather, the people, and the rum. Over the years, we’ve made many friends on the island and it’s great to rally together once a year and catch up.
But this year we wanted to do something a little different. We thought it would be a great idea to throw an Official Chive New Year’s Meetup at our favorite bar, The Green Parrot – No tickets, no dress code, just a block party for all the Chivers on the island. The party spilled out into the street and nobody cared. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life, from what I remember.
Thanks especially to The Green Parrot, the Croce family, and the entire staff for accommodating our antics. Thanks to all the Chivers on the island for making us feel so welcome. I had to pinch myself when I first got out of the cab and saw KCCO flags flying from the bars, KCCO Black Lager everywhere, and Bill Murray stickers on the windows of the restaurants. Those moments are not lost on me.
And apologies ahead of time for this post being a little me-heavy. I was the only one who remembered to bring a camera. This is the fractured collection of photos taken on our rum adventure…
Many of you have seen the lead photo up there already. Here’s the girl behind the tush, Bailey Sokal. Bailey’s Instagram.
We started a RAKit tradition last year. We post up at The Smallest Bar – Key West, and buy drinks for everybody who walks in all night. We stop when the first one of us falls down. It was awesome meeting so many random people and hearing their stories.
The rest of the misfits arrive on the island including Jessie, Pat, Chelsea, and our good friends Ken and Michelle Ham…
The first of many KCCO Black Lagers is served New Year’s Day.
KCCO Black Lager is now available nationwide. Find the delicious misfit closest to you using our Beer Locator.
The Pre-party begins at one of our favorite Key West hangouts, The Porch.
