Every year theCHIVERS journey to St. Augustine, Florida, to the Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament. We’re proud to be the lead sponsor for an event that raises so much money to help purchase badly-needed gear for firefighters across the country.
This tournament is always the most bonkers 48 hours of the year. You never know what kind of bizarre circumstances you’ll find yourself in – Bill Murray wanted to play a game of Go Fish with the Chivettes for example.
Thanks to Bill, Chris Seeley, and all the Murray Bros. for being genuinely some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet.
We took some photos…
Introducing theCHIVE’s Airstream trailer. It’s got KCCO Black on tap (always), and a stripper pole. It’s got other cool stuff too but who cares about anything but beer and pole. Just sayin’. It was a huge hit at the event and you’ll see it in a city near you this summer if we don’t crash it.
This is Tyler Southern. Tyler stepped on an IED in Afghanistan and lost three limbs in the process. The field report stated that the blast was so powerful, only bits of his legs and boots were ever found. Since that fateful day in May, 2010 Tyler has been raising awareness for Wounded Wear, specialized clothing for our wounded patriots. He’s also a great motivational speaker.
That evening, Tyler and the Murrays wanted to see how many people in the crowd would buy this specialized all-terrain wheelchairs on behalf of a wounded veteran. They set the goal at 10 chairs. The highly-versatile machines cost $14,000 a piece.
Bill urged the crowd to open their wallets…
theCHIVERS all pooled in our money and bought a chair for a veteran. We helped shatter last year’s goal and raised enough money to purchase 14 chairs for highly-disabled veterans.
If you haven’t yet read the viral story about how Bill Murray made the night of double-amputee Brandon Long, click here!
Joel Murray emcee’d the event and killed it, he’s one of the funniest people we know.
This is how awesome Tyler is. I found him later in the evening holding the bathroom door open for everybody. This guy rocks.
The day of the tournament. We arrived totally sober. Swear.
Thanks to Danielle Pom, Jade Elizabeth, and Lindsey Way for joining us. Y’all were amazing.
The William Murray Polos will be available this Thursday (tomorrow) at Noon PST, 3pm EST. This will likely be the first and last time we ever make these amazing shirts available and proceeds will benefit the Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity!
One of our good friends, Kristy Swanson (yes the OG Buffy), joined us. Kristy is not only fucking hilarious, she also just rolled out her new golf line, aDRESSitGOLF and it’s worth checking out not only for the awesome clothes, but also, you know, the girls.
Kristy made me promise not to use my favorite photo of her tush… but here we are. It was unavoidable, Kristy.
We actually eagled the second-to-last hole to take 3rd place overall in the tournament.
Yes, we got drunk with our trophies all night long.

One small pro tip about the Murray tournament. The Friday evening of the event, while the event tent is private, the adjacent Caddyshack restaurant stays open to the public. Tons of Chivers showed up not expecting to get in and ended up having the night of their lives because everybody at the event loves the bar over at Caddyshack.
