Denny’s just opened its first New York City location last week, and they decided to bring their A-game to the Big Apple. The restaurant is the fanciest you’ve ever seen of the franchise to date. They actually sell a $300 breakfast that includes a bottle of 2004 Dom Perignon Premier Cru Champagne, along with the regular serving of two eggs, pancakes, sausage and bacon. The name of this meal is the “Grand Cru Slam,” instead of the traditional staple “Grand Slam” breakfast. Clever, I know.
The restaurant is located in the heart of the Financial District in lower Manhattan, which didn’t please many of the nearby residents. People living above the restaurant in the building sued to try and prevent Denny’s from opening there, calling the chain a “haven for violence, disorderly conduct, and alcohol-drenched patrons,” according to the Daily News.
A judge threw out the case before it went to court.
The menu includes a $10.69 Chicken Bacon Classic, a $10.99 Belgian Waffle Slam and an $11.99 Philly Cheesesteak.
