Resignation Brewery began in a tiny closet in Venice Beach. At the time we were brewing a toasty black lager and self-bottling the beer. On the weekends we’d give tours of the office to any Chivers who yelled up to the balcony.
Once they arrived, I’d take the Chivers to the beer fridge first, hand them our home brew, and give them the tour. Many suggested we should figure out a way to share KCCO Black with all of Chive Nation. A few months later the Craft Brew Alliance actually made dream possible.
In one year, Resignation Brewery vaulted from the 3,200th largest brewery in America to the 86th. Holy shit.
KCCO Black’s big brother, KCCO Gold Lager has now arrived in 25,000 locations nationwide. The straw colored lager with notes of honey and biscuit is the topic of a big article in USA Today.
Mike Snider from USA Today spent a day at the office and has written a glowing article on the origins of theCHIVE, our charities, and our fleet of successful beers – as well as the fresh offerings you can expect from theCHIVE this year. We’re really proud of it and wanted to share it with you.
