10 years ago, Sasha Bouis was a disgruntled programmer when he decided to give up his mundane life behind a cubicle to pursue a new life in the tropics. After moving to the Virgin Islands, Sasha met and fell in love with Tara, who was spending the summer teaching kids how to scuba dive. The romance blossomed and one day while enjoying a sunset near St. Thomas on a charter boat the two realized that the only thing missing was a perfectly cooked pizza to eat while out on the water. The lightbulbs over their heads nearly burst as they started brainstorming just how they could pull off this feat.
A few years later, in 2014, the couple transformed an abandoned aluminum sailboat into a floating pizzeria, dubbed “Pizza Pi.” The entrepreneurs customized and hand built the boat’s kitchen to accommodate commercial pizza ovens, fridges, bench space and storage, and even created a special pick-up window for local boats to come and pick up their pizza. Located in Christmas Cove, Virgin Islands, Pizza Pi brings a convenient stop for tourists and boat enthusiasts who are out on the water all day and in dire need of a slice.
