The veteran firefighter was diagnosed with stage 4 neck and head cancer. That’s when his family formed Team Hughes to help Chris pay for his medical expenses.
He lost all of his benefits after the fire.
“Why? Why our family? He save’s the community’s life. He goes out and risks his life to save their property, to save them,” Chris’ sister-in-law Michelle said. “He’s a great guy. He love’s firefighting, he loves his daughter, he loves his family.”
His family said it’s their job, to make sure he gets the help he needs.
“He risks his life everyday to save everybody else,” Tristan Hughes said “I think it would only be right to help support him in his time of need. When he selflessly gives for everyone else.”
