There’s an artist in Calgary, who’s working in a pretty strange and unique medium, for a clientele that probably won’t actually get a chance to appreciate it.
He’s making armour; for mice and cats.
This is Jeff DeBoer and since the late ’80’s, he’s been making handcrafted, themed armours. He works based off of commissions and this is only one facet of his artistry, but the one he’s most passionate about.
Stating that since he was a young kid, he was always fascinated by what armour represented.
As well, he also had an affinity for the underdog and mice represented that, so on a whim he started designing and fabricating, little medieval pieces of armour.
From mice, he logically moved into making armour for cats as well.
All the pieces are handmade out of sheet metal and the designs are hand-pounded in.
The attention to detail is astounding.
Below are some of his various creations.
He’s also made masks for a rottweiler.
He’s even created some Steampunk pieces.
Rocketpack and gas mask.
We’ll admit, we’re mildly curious about a joust battle between two cats in the armour. Wouldn’t that be something?
