Imgur User ASmallCrane posted his step by step progress while building his own home theater on the cheap. Begin Slideshow 2 He picked a spot in the basement and walled it off with curtains. 3 Then he built the screen. He took some ply wood and painted it white and then mounted it onto a frame. 4 He mounted it to a pair of beams running through the ceiling, The rope was rated to hold 120lb and the wood weighed 30lb. 5 Close up of eye-hole screws in the beams. 6 The finished product so far; a very decent home projection system. But he wasn’t done yet. 7 He added a double decker couch to accommodate his viewers. He placed the couch onto an inverted bed frame. 89 With some leftover eye-hole screws he added a hammock, and he stress tested to up to 220lb. 10 To add a touch of “class” he threw a black curtain up behind the screen. 11 He installed a surround sound setup. Hiding the front left and front right speakers underneath the screen frame. Hidden from sight. 12 Front speaker down in the center. 13 He added a lit path to help his viewers find their way from the stairs to the theater. This is a comparison shot of pitch black and when the lights are on. 14 He added a projection station by using a board and more rope. To get the angle right took some time. 15 Swapped out the second couch for some love seats and added some side couches. 16 He added a little mood lighting with a remote controlled LED light. 17 Very effective at lighting the room when a film isn’t playing. 18 Really some excellent mood lighting. 19 A panoramic of the finished room. 20 Ready to watch your favorite films with your favorite people. 21 Via Imgur Up Next: Some of the most pregnant animals you will ever see (27 Photos) Next Scroll down for more content.
