Iranian police have arrested eight Iranian models in a new police initiative targeting “Un-Islamic acts.” If that sounds broad and incredibly vague, it is. The police are using the women’s Instagram accounts to make the arrests.
The dragnet operation involved 170 people including 58 models, 59 photographers, and makeup artists. At least eight arrests have been confirmed so far. The police also detained a few artists and poets to round out the initiative.
The police are calling posing without a headscarf “pornography.”
