When Ernest Hemingway was a journalist in France during the war, he came across a group of resistance soldiers who felt like they needed leadership. So, he ripped off his non combat insignia and told them that he was a U.S. colonel. He even convinced the U.S. army to arm him with some guns and grenades by telling them that he was ferrying weapons for another troop.
As they marched towards Paris with the intentions of leading assaults, Hemingway took over bars and got drunk. Once in Paris, Hemingway partied throughout the rest of the war! This guy, man. This guy.
