Parenting is a 24/7 job. Especially if you’ve got little ones running amuck, there’s little time for shut eye.
Answering the prayers of exhausted parents everywhere, there is now a napping exercise class where mom and dad can pay to snooze in peace.
A gym in the UK offers “Nap-Ercise” classes, where patrons can pay for a 45-minute nap in a room full of strangers (so bring ear plugs in case a nearby napper has a snoring problem). Bedtime is preceded by a 15-minute stretching session, so you can still feel productive when you tell people you “went to the gym.”
The class is currently on a trial run at David Lloyd Clubs in Sidcup, UK, and will spread to other gyms across the country if it’s a success.
And even non-parents can benefit from a midday nap.
Organizers say the class will “reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calorie.”
A study conducted at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania found that a 45-minute nap in the middle of the day can help people handle stressful situations.
Another study found from UC Berkeley found that taking a nap increases a person’s brain capacity.
So whether you need an hour of tranquility away from a needy kid — or a needy coworker — “Nap-Ercise” could do wonders for your health.
