In Scottsboro, Alabama sits Unclaimed Baggage Center, a sprawling, city-block sized store that buys pretty much everything unclaimed in the US.
On their website, they claim that, on average, 99.5% of luggage makes it to where it needs to go, but the rest, comes to them and is processed, cleaned and sold in their store. So assuming that all those 2.2M passengers have 1 bag, that’s 110K suitcases that have nowhere to go.
For UBC, every day, they recieve between 6,000 and 8,000 new items for sale. While some of it is pretty normal – shirts, dresses, shoes, and luggage, they also get some of the weirdest and most random shit ever.
Here’s some of the oddest stuff they’ve found.
