Then in December of 2016, down and in a horrific self-imposed funk, Walter was given a chance. A fellow gambler bet him $500,000 that he couldn’t lose every ounce of weight he’d tacked on, cutting his body fat to ten percent in just 6 months. The details stipulated that taking steroids or HGH was forbidden, as was liposuction, and random full panel blood testing would be required in addition, or Walter would be disqualified from the earnings. After the stipulations were ironed out and the money in escrow, the race was on. Finally, Walter had a gamble worth taking.
The fallen poker player was allowed to work with a personal trainer, and so with the help of Chris DiVecchio, Walter was determined to do the impossible, reduce his 33 percent body fat to 10. Walter didn’t have the money to pay Chris, so the trainer reduced his price with the ask of a small payout if Walter were able to win the bet in the end.
“We started with 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training and an hour of weights, seven days per week,” said Fisher. “Then we went to 45-minutes of cardio and two hours of high-intensity interval training, plus weights.”
Walter explained, “I ate oatmeal and egg whites for breakfast. I soon put in ten hours a day, with five hours of cardio. I drank amino acids and glutamine to keep my muscles from breaking down.“
