There’s an old story that says Elvis hated Robert Goulet so much he shot his own TV when Goulet appeared on it. It’s true, but that’s not the whole truth. Curators at Graceland, where visitors can see a TV with a bullet hole in it, say Elvis shot all kinds of stuff, all the time, including TVs. Goulet may have been on one of those TVs, but Elvis didn’t have anything against Goulet—they were actually friends. He just liked guns a lot.
Elvis starred in a lot of bad movies that were little more than vehicles to get Elvis on screen and sing a few songs. He could’ve starred in West Side Story, which won the Oscar for Best Picture. Director Robert Wise wanted to cast Elvis in one of the two male lead roles, but produces wouldn’t allow it.
