Unless you’re living under a rock, or are already living in this future apocalyptic wasteland where alien monsters are attracted by sound and will rip you apart for the slightest noise (in that case, shhhh… I’m sorry), you know about his film. A Quiet Place , was written, directed and headlined by John Krasinski, and it’s been killing it at the box office. Released this past Friday, it’s already got a hell of a lot of positive buzz.
One of the best things about the film is how it uses silence to build suspense. Most horror films use a soundtrack and you can tell, based on the swell of the music, or a key musical phrase, that bad shit is gonna happen. In this film, it’s the lack of sound that’ll get ya. Audiences, critics and the rest of the world just can’t get enough and have been taking to social media to share their love of the film.
Including the master of horror himself, Stephen King.
