So it’s getting late here and I’m going through theCHIVE submission box. Whenever we launch The Originals, there’s always an uptick of emails from Chivers who wanted to RAK their friends in the Armed Forces an Original but didn't get to their computers in time or simply can't afford it. Many of those soldiers and sailors are in a whole other time zone themselves with no fixed address.

So let's do something about this. I’m going to RAK a healthy number of KCCO’s and BFM’s to our service men and women - like, a really healthy number (my accountant called me “a financially irresponsible boy scout. I like it.”. It was a real moment.

If you know an active service member or veteran, email us at chiverygiveaway@gmail.com on his/her behalf and we’ll email you a backlink to the free ‘Originals’. Feel free to include their story. We are assuming all costs except for shipping. You must receive an email back confirming the order. If you don’t know the RAK recipient's address, send the package to yourself and please be sure you get it to them. This is the internet honor system. It's flawless!

We’ve done this before with the Military KCCO’s but this is a whole other enchilada, I have no idea what’s about to happen so please understand we do have a sorta' limited amount of shirts to give away and I'm half drunk at the moment. I'll update this page when the shirts are gone.

RAK away. I'm sure your friends will more than appreciate it. It's the small things after all...

KCCO,

John n' Leo

UPDATE: Thanks so much for all the heart warming emails. I gotta' close this awesome little science experiment down now. If you're one of the service men or women who gets a package, you've got some good friends out there looking after you.

The 2nd Annual Chive Charities Green Gala will be held in Austin, TX on Saturday, November 15, 2014. Last year’s inaugural event was one of the most inspiring gatherings of misfits ever. It was a magical evening where our Green Members partied with Chive Charities' past recipients, danced, made friends with Chivers from around the world, and shed some tears when we unveiled this Chive Charities video. Oh yeah, and we took a lot of shots.

This year's theme will be a Masquerade Ball. Per tradition, you are welcome to dress in superhero costume. This party is only open to our Eligible Green Members. There's still plenty of time to sign up. Attendees will get the chance to meet some of their favorite Chive Charities' recipients, including Jaiden, Michael Sexton, Melissa Smith, Billy Wynne, and more.

KCCO,

John n' Leo

*As always, this party will be paid for by sponsorships and ticket sales. No money from Chive Charities will be used.

Last October Danny Nickerson was diagnosed with a tumor that is traditionally one of the most chemotherapy-resistant. From November to December, Danny endured 33 radiation treatments and dropped out of kindergarden. Danny became lonely without other children around to play with. But then on Easter he received some cards, wishing him well. Danny's mother said, "For some reason Danny LOVED seeing his name on the packages."

But the packages tapered off after Easter and finally stopped all together.

The tiny clip from the Plainville News has been swirling around theCHIVE since early this morning. Danny Nickerson is about to turn 6 years-old and his one wish is to have people send him a birthday card, that's all.

You'll also notice on the clip that, so far, Danny has received 40 packages. It's RAKit week and I had this vision in my head that if I brought this to the Chivers... maybe that tiny P.O. box in Foxboro, Massachusetts might suddenly become an postal avalanche of birthday cards and well-wishes. And I believe that's just what we're about to do.

Danny's birthday is in two days, and I really don't think it's of any consequence if some cards arrive a little late. Danny's address is below. If you feel like doing a little more I'm told Danny loves Legos and Super Mario toys. I like him already.

Today when I arrived at theCHIVE, the famous food philanthropists, Triple G Relief, were cooking up breakfast for the entire Chive office. Then they set up a mimosa bar and we got after it. So now we're all full and drunk and we're just getting warmed up today.

Many of you remember Seth Ringley and Blake Giles. The BBQ gurus who created Triple G Relief dropped everything and to spend two months helping to feed victims of the F5 tornado that ripped through Oklahoma City last year.

Today at 2pm in Austin we're joining forces once again with the Triple G Relief boys for a special happening outside the new Chive HQ and we're inviting all of you to join us for a free BBQ lunch at theCHIVE. There will also be some very worthy charities there we'd like you to meet:

Operation Blue Santa will be there as well as Austin Pets Alive! and all we ask is you give a small donation to help make Christmas a special time for underprivileged kids and maybe help get some cats and dogs some much-needed food.

Austin Pets Alive! is burning thru almost 6,000 lbs. of dog and cat food every month to sustain all the animals at this no-kill shelter. They could use our help and something tells me there will be a big check from us here at theCHIVE waiting for you when you get here tomorrow :)

Operation Blue Santa was the recipient of a $50,000 grant from Chive Charities last year and they are ramping up efforts to go even bigger this Christmas after the Chivers helped Blue Santa bring Christmas to over 4,000 families last year. I mean, it is Half Christmas after all.

Most importantly - if you don't have $5 to donate, don't sweat it, just come by and experience some great BBQ and meet theCHIVE crew. The BBQ will be in the cul-de-sac next to theCHIVE HQ. Look for the firetrucks and Mac trying to adopt all the cats.

I know it's late but we're going hard this week so there will be a lot of posts beyond the regular hours.

It's #RAKit week so we're literally RAK'ing racks (of ribs) tomorrow.

Today we’re going to embark on a great social experiment, RAKit week. I had written this silly grandiose thing earlier, something about the harmonic vibrations between people, the intangible connections that reverberate through the empty space and affect us all whether we know it or not. Don’t believe it? Set one guitar closely across from another and strum a chord, see how the other guitar reacts - it will vibrate back. I just butchered both Tesla and the Harmonic String Theory there but I’m striving to a point.

When one random individual connects to another… and then to another, something actually happens. Nobody can prove it exists really, such are theories of non-physical phenomena, but I think it does. And maybe with all the chaos happening across the globe right now some group should try and harness some positive energy by stringing a bunch of Random Acts of Kindness together and, ya know, see what happens.

So RAKit week begins. We’ll be bringing you heartwarming stories everyday from Chive HQ. We have awesome events planned for the whole spectrum, firefighters to animal shelters. Yes, there will still be cleavage but we’re going to heavy up on the small kindnesses that make a big difference this week, and we’re inviting y’all to get in on it. In fact, we want you in the driver’s seat of this social experiment.

Keep your heads up a little more to the world around you, maybe there’s an old lady who needs her lawn mowed or somebody down on their luck who just needs an ear to listen. Be creative and feel free to share your RAK’s using the hashtag #RAKit on social media . You can also submit them to theCHIVE, or just do it to put a smile on somebody's face, which is the point.

Above all, have FUN with this. You’ll be surprised how these small generosities will reflect back at you in ways you never imagined, so put your fingers on the strings and make some noise this week!

Imagine you're a single mother with a 6 month-old infant and you're watching your little girl have her 15th seizure of the day. As if being the mother of a healthy child isn't hard enough, this must be heartbreaking.

Shortly after little Judith turned 1 year old, she was finally diagnosed with CDKL5, a rare X-linked genetic disorder that results in seizures, sensory issues, and developmental delays.

Chive Charities and The Chive Fund is stepping up with a $14,200 grant which will go towards therapy equipment, adaptive furniture, a SAMi monitor to alert Kaitlyn, Judith's mother, if Judith is seizing at night, and an iPad with vision therapy apps.

Read the Judith's entire inspirational story RIGHT HERE!

Read all about this amazing thing we call the Chive Fund RIGHT HERE!

Related Note: Next week is #RAKit week on theCHIVE. We're ramping up for the largest global pay-it-forward movement ever. We can't wait to share the details with you later this week but, mainly, it's just going to be a ton of fun.

I'm told there are a lot of KCCO Flags flying in the small town of Hutto, TX today. The small community has made the national spotlight after the Chivers sandblasted another goal.

A young boy named DJ, three-time cancer survivor at only 4 years-old, had a dream of one day playing his favorite sport, baseball. But there was no field nearby, much less the kind of specialized diamond needed for disabled children.

Chive Charities stepped up first with a $200,000 donation to help build the field - our biggest donation ever.

And then the Chivers tripled a $50,000 goal in 24 hours, raising $150,000 in record time to complete funding on the project... and then some. The total funds raised now stands at $350,000.

Read the story here.

KCCO Ability Field will support more than just baseball. Disabled kids from miles around will also be able to safely play soccer, kickball, and flag football. The community will be able to use it for various fundraisers and outdoor gatherings.

Lastly, DJ's mother, Ashlei, wrote us today and said this:

"What you guys are doing is amazing. I'm not the best with words. I wish I was so I could express just how wonderful and great and appreciative we are of everything.

... There is a little boy in a wheel chair who would play with us but he hated getting his wheelchair wheels dirty. I keep thinking of how happy he will be when he doesn't have to go home and clean his wheels anymore."

Well done again, Chivers.
