    followed the chive for a long time. They've always been able to manufacture 'viral'. I remember after the HOPA stunt, everybody wondered what they would do next – who woulda guessed they'd pick a county in the middle of nowhere who needs our help? nobody. and that's kind of the point. only this time they relied on us to deliver and we did. so great.

    It's late here but I thought this was worth a post. Never forget that YOU did this. You stepped the plate when you didn't really need to and swung for the fence, that's the Chive way I guess. I've never been so proud of anything in my entire life, I mean that.

      I agree this was awesome, and something that should be repeated…but the cynic in me cautions to beware…this could lead to a lot of "charities" that want help. Make sure that it's really something that needs the help before you make it viral. I'd hate to be ripped off that way. I know that you'll do your homework, but it had to be said.

        Weekly is far too often. Even Chivers would become numb after a while. As well, John and Leo are sure to be bombarded by requests from thousands of organizations.

        Better that we all save our pennies and what for something Chivish to appear.

      Can you give a posted update on the total for this? I saw it was $20,000 after two days, but i am sure that was before all the donations were received by mail. Glad we could all pitch in. Thanks for doing this for the well deserved rescue squad!
