Ever since I moved to the south for a few years, I’ve been fascinated by how people in different parts of the country say different words. We all know some of the differences (Soda/pop, you all/y’all), but there are quite a few you’d never notice if you don’t travel around a lot. Fortunately, NC State Ph. D candidate Josh Katz just published this incredible series of visualizations of all those little dialectical differences. I picked out some of my favorites, but you can find the full list here if you’re interested.
