In less than a week Super Bowl 50 will be played in the 49ers’ Levi Stadium. One would think San Franciscans would be thrilled to host the biggest sporting event of the year but many of them are actually pretty angry about it. The NFL has set up its Super Bowl City in downtown San Francisco and it’s being paid for with $5 million in taxpayer money reports SB Nation. The NFL made $12 billion dollars in 2015 and is making the city of San Francisco pay for the host festivities. To protest this, many residents have begun defacing the Super Bowl 50 statues which have popped up all over the city.
