If you have been following the NFL draft for the last month you probably heard about the LA Rams trading a boat load (Tennessee sent the #1 pick along with its 4th round- (No. 113) and 6th round (No. 177) picks this year to the Rams in exchange for the Rams’ 1st round pick (No. 15), two 2nd round picks (Nos. 43 and 45) and a third-round pick (No. 76) in 2016.
The Titans also get the Rams’ 1st and 3rd round picks in 2017.)
And that is pretty typical of a trade for a #1 overall pick. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work out for the team making the new selection.
Such as with the Colts in 1990 when they traded lineman Chris Hinton and wide receiver Andre Rison, who dominated for the next 5 years and finished his career with over 10,000 yards.
Jeff George, who the Colts selected with the #1 pick, went 14-35 as a starter for the Colts.
