The “Sailrocket 2” was built by project leader Paul Larsen with sponsorship funding from a Danish wind turbine company named Vestas. Off the coast of Walvis Bay in Namibia (located just north of South Africa), Mr. Larsen’s project would go on to break the previous world record speed of 64mph by achieving the speed of 59.38 knots which equates to 68.3mph. 1Sailrocket
