When you think of famous, politically-charged, anonymous guerrilla street artists/graffiti artists, the first name that comes to mind is going to be Banksy, obviously. But I bet you’ve never heard of Roadsworth; Montreal’s very own secret artist.
Starting in 2001, Peter Gibson began creating guerrilla art as a campaign for Montreal to bring bike lanes to the city. What started as activism became full blown art after an arrest for vandalism in 2004. Now he’s gone legit
To him, much like a legendary writer Wordsworth was a poet of words, Roadsworth is a poet of roads. He uses existing road lines and either modifies them or creates a full artistic piece.
