Yesterday, Instagram released its latest update in the form of an atomic bomb, directly aimed at Snapchat. Ok, that’s a little exaggerative, but the photo-sharing app sure did implement a similar feature to Snapchat in what they are calling Instagram Stories.
If you’re not familiar with the social media platforms, here’s a breakdown of what’s going on: Snapchat is all about vids that permanently go away after 24 hours.
What separates them from Instagram is that their content isn’t permanent, and they offer fun facial filters to use that pretty much everyone loves. Instagram just updated to offer the same service minus the filters. If I were a betting man, I’d say those are most likely coming in another update. So basically, if you’re an avid social media user, and enjoy this updated feature like I do, you won’t find yourself flipping between two apps anymore.
Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, might have made this move after Snapchat rejected Facebook’s offer to buy them out a couple years ago. But that’s none of my business.
The entire office freaked out when this update dropped. The internet, of course, joined us.
