The new millennium (or willienium if you will) has been very kind to long struggling sports teams. We have seen the end of a combined 282 years of drought ended between the 3 longest running franchise without a championship (the Cubs, obviously ending their nightmare this week and the Red Sox ending their 86 year drought in 2004 and the White Sox in 2005).
Since number 1, 2 and 3 on the drought list are finished, here is a look at the longest remaining droughts remaining in North American sports (sorry Australian rules football).
The only downside of the Cubs winning and snapping their 108 year binge of self loathing was that it meant extending the misery of the Cleveland Indians for at least one more year. The Indians have been battling their own championship demons going on 69 years now.
