Working in the service industry gives you the opportunity to see the best and worst in people. You observe their table manners, their interactions and you’ve got a front seat to how they treat people when they don’t have to be nice. As horrible as some customers may be, every once in a while, someone comes along with the means and the desire to make a difference.
Ben Miller is an Irish man living and waiting tables in a Houston, TX restaurant. On a day just like any other, he happened to have a conversation with a customer who had just seen U2 play in Ireland. Ben mentioned he was actually from Belfast and how hopeful he was to be able to return home and visit his family soon. Apparently, the customer was quite moved by Ben’s desire to return home.
