My son recently made this friendship mask to help him make more friends (he has friends thankfully as this certainly won’t help)
I had to throw it out because it was so fucking terrifying with him constantly walking around the house wearing it. Stood by the side of the bed with it on was the final straw.
Bonus fact: the red pencil marks on the forehead is where he “cut his head with knives”
When I was in college, I volunteered to help teach a Graphic Design lesson as work experience, and the idea was for the kids to make level designs for a 2D game, and as im walking around, answering any questions about Photoshop, and this one 12 year old calls me over and asks for help, and he has this weird series of abstract shapes on his screen that hes made, so I ask him: “What exactly is your game, you’re designing?”
This 12 year old looks me dead in the eye, and tells me he is designing a beat-em-up game, set inside a microwave, with a man, a chicken and a slime-monster, and the objective is to kill each other before the microwave burns you all alive.
Nodded slowly and walked away.
My 4 year old daughter came home with a picture she had done which she called “My Family”. The whole page from edge to edge was just red crayon scribble.
Friend of mine is a teacher (10-11 age group) and the kids were asked to create an artwork of their “Life’s Ambition” and one child drew a picture of, what was clearly a dead body with themselves represented as a surgeon doing a handstand over it with blood on their feet.
She didn’t know what to do.
High School 1977. While everyone else is drawing Pink Floyd rainbows and peace signs all over everything the biggest burnout in the class makes a wide metal bracelet with intricate triangular designs cut out of it. He turns it in and get a great grade for the first project he ever bothered finishing and some well deserved praise for his effort.
Teacher hands our work back and first thing he does is grab a pair of pliers and bends all the triangles outward making a thick metal spiked bracelet. I found that devilishly, disturbingly clever.
