Prepare yourself, lots of people almost died.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
In the original version of Return of the Jedi, Han dies and Luke abandons Leia. Yikes. With Rebel forces taking down the Empire (but with highly emotional consequences), Leia having a hard time with her leadership role after the civil war and Luke wandering off on his own “like Clint Eastwood in the spaghetti westerns,” Episode VI almost ended on a somber note. However, George Lucas scrapped the entire thing because he wanted everyone to be happy in the end… and he also wanted to sell a lot of toys.
