The flight-deck of an aircraft carrier is called the second most dangerous workplace on Earth…one behind deep sea crab fishing.
I spliced together 2 U.S. Navy released instructional videos to make this video.

From Navy video release:
“The Catapult Centerdeck Operator’s job is to ensure communication with catapult control relaying aircraft type, gross weight and the side number, and assisting the Catapult Officer (or, Shooter) in selection of Capacity Selector Valve (CSV) settings. Each plane requires a different catapult setting based on weight.”
“The Catapult Topside Petty Officer’s job is to ensure the safety of all personnel on the flight deck during launching operations, and to ensure the proper hook-up of the aircraft to the catapult.
The aircraft in the video are both older (more nimble) F/A-18A/B Hornets and newer (holds more fuel to stay in the fight longer) F/A-18C/D Super Hornets (Rhinos).
