You ever wonder what was going on behind the camera during the filming of our favorites like Animal House and Caddyshack? Gambling, spitting, and fighting may not have been allowed at Bushwood, but that didn’t stop anyone when the cameras stopped rolling. They did all those things… and then some. The Netflix film A Futile and Stupid Gesture gives us a peek inside the madness, like how Doug Kenney wanted National Lampoon’s first film to be called Laser Orgy Girls.

National Lampoon was the pinnacle of comedic brilliance. There should be a Mt. Rushmore carved out for the powerhouses who didn’t just move the needle of comedy, they put it in a rocket and sent it to the moon. A Futile and Stupid Gesture gives insight to the complex, vibrant and ultimately tragic life of Doug Kenney, who co-created the National Lampoon, Caddyshack, and Animal House. Kenney was at the center of the 70’s comedy counter-culture which gave birth to Saturday Night Live and a whole generation’s way of looking at the world.
The movie is now streaming on Netflix. Watch it HERE, and if you want this exclusive t-shirt for FREE, just comment your favorite character or quote below and fill out your info HERE so we can send you one your way!
