It’s easy to forget how far photography has come since the first known photo taken back in 1826. It wasn’t until 1861 that color photos started showing up in small spurts, and it took until the mid-1900s before color photography became popularized. So take a look back in time to observe some of the first documented photos taken from each US state.
Note: Knowing the exact first photo taken per state is nearly impossible, but, according to The Library Congress, these are some of the first “mainstream” images found.
