As real estate becomes increasingly scarce for younger generations, the ability to cultivate one’s own garden is becoming increasingly an uphill battle to pull off. Then take a small, heavily-populated country like Japan, and amplify that difficulty level by about 100. But thanks to some dedicated Japanese landscapers, and their own creative minds, there is now a new place to plant their own garden — the bed of their pick-up trucks.
Every year people from all around the country bring their flatbed trucks to compete at the Kei Truck Garden Contest. Each created landscape is unique from the rest and incorporates everything from lighting and water features, down to the rocks and greenery you’d see typical of gardens found in Japan, and beyond.
