It might not seem like it when you first watch them, but movies about life in prison, or about prison breaks, are more complex then you realize. They’re often metaphors for the human condition and deeply psychological. It’s always fascinating to see how men, who are supposedly there to be broken, find a way to escape their captors and win in the end. Kinda reminds me of family time during the holidays.
I’ve seen most of these a thousand times, and I still worry that they won’t make it out alive. Also, given that most of them are based on a true story, is a tribute to how resilient and clever humans can be.
