Usually, when it comes to directors, they all have a certain look/feel and genre that they play in. You’ve got Michael Bay and his sexy explosions, John Carpenter with the synth soundtracks and relentless monsters, or Tarantino with his snappy dialogue and foot fetish; all predictable.
Yet sometimes, a family-oriented script comes along that a director can’t resist, and it’s up to them to find the tools in their skill set to make it PG-13 or F. Then, it’s a hard left turn from what you know them for, into something fluffy and friendly. Like, for example, did you know that the man who brought you the badass Mad Max franchise, also is responsible for Mumble and his Happy Feet?
You do now.
