You can throw all the newest Playstations and Xboxes my way but nothing is going to top my love for the NES. It’s probably just the rose-coloured glasses of nostalgia talking, but I’ve never had happier gaming memories than when I was a kid, with my Nintendo. No cheats, no internet, just feeling the rush of beating a game on my own. And, oh, the mysteries.
Unless you subscribed to Nintendo Power or were part of some sort of gaming club, there was no one to ask questions about levels, or cheats that were readily available. Hence, there are a lot of mysteries, secrets and levels that us pre-pubescent gamers never got a chance to see. So I’ve got a list of some of the most notorious and secretive ones.
It was wild days, indeed.
